KITCHEN CABINET PAINTING IN OSHAWA & WHITBY

Why Paint Your kitchen Cabinets?

The kitchen is the heart of the home, with so much time spent with your family and friends. As such, you want it to look and feel amazing.

The cost of painting your kitchen cabinets is a fraction of what it would be to replace them. This is by far the most cost-effective way to freshen and modernize your kitchen. Painting your kitchen cabinets will increase the overall value of your home.

With unlimited colours to choose from, you can put your own stamp on the kitchen, making it completely unique. Most kitchens are completed within the week.

Because the kitchen is the heart of the house, when you change the look and feel of the kitchen cabinets, you change the look and feel of the whole house.

The Process

In this section, I will take you step by step so that you will have a better

understanding of how the process works.

1.Light Sanding

The first stage is to remove all hardware like handles and holders then lightly sand all areas that intend to be painted. This will provide an excellent surface for the new paint to bond and to also flag any areas that need extra attention.

2.Damage Repair

If there are dents in your doors, deep scratches or screw holes, all theses areas will be filled using a wood filler and sanded down. If you're changing door handles, new holes, if needed will be drilled at this stage.

3.Cleaning

TSP cleaning, this is an amazing product that removes grease and dirt from cooking and general use. This stage will also remove dust from the first two stages.

4.Priming

This is the first painting stage. The primer is an extreme bond and will adhere to any surface, providing the first three stages have been completed. This sets the stage for a long lasting, durable finish.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO PAINT KITCHEN CABINETS?

When it comes to providing a quote for a customer, we believe in complete transparency. The cost per item of the kitchen (i.e. per drawer and per door) is $130 each. This includes the units they are attached to. The average cost of painting your kitchen cabinets is as follows:

  • Small - Medium kitchens: $3000 - $4000

  • Medium - Large kitchens: $4000 - $6000

  • Large - XL large kitchens: $6000 - $10000

Keep in mind that there are variables that can affect the cost, such as the prep needed to make the kitchen paintable, cleaning, and repair work.

Brand New Kitchen
  • Will there be brush strokes?
No, the paint I use is self-leveling so as it dries, it leaves a very flat smooth surface. This combined with the correct preparation and a light sanding in between coats will leave a perfectly smooth factory looking finish on your kitchen.
  • Do I take the the doors off site or work in your home?
All work is carried out at your home. I work methodically on the kitchen, section by section utilizing counters, islands and work tables to paint each door and drawer piece by piece. The kitchen is completely protected throughout the project and left clean and tidy for you at the end of the day.
  • Is the paint hard wearing and will last?
Yes, the paint I use is called Urethane. This is a hybrid paint of water and oil, self leveling with a very high resistance to scuffs and scratches. Additionally, it will last you for a very long time. This paint is designed for kitchen cabinet painting.
  • How long does it take to paint?
So on average a kitchen that has a total of 19-24 doors and drawers will take about 2-3 days. This can change depending on the current color of your kitchen. For example, changing a black kitchen to white will take longer than a kitchen from oak to white. A kitchen with 24-40 doors and drawers will take around a week. Again, this varies depending on the existing color.
